The basic concept of StoryJoin is, members will start a story of their own and other members will be able to contribute to that story.  Below are step by step instructions on how it works.

Send a Story, allows you to receive a random story from the category you choose from and each month you will receive your story.

Registration/Account

1.  If you are going to contribute to any story, you will have to register first, in the “Login” section.  If you are just here to read a story, you can just select a category under the “Read a Finished Story” section.

2.  Once you have registered, you will receive an e-mail to confirm your account. The e-mail will contain a link, which will take you to your new account.

3.  Your new account contains My Stories, Inbox and Create New Story.

• Started by me:  Here you will find a list of stories that you have started.
• Contributed:  List of stories that have been started by other members, but that you have contributed in.
• My Favorite:  Is a list of stories you have chosen as favorite, from the “Read a Finished Story” list.
• Message:  When you contribute to a story, your paragraph will have a link that will allow other members to send a message and this section will list the messages.
• Invites to Contribute:  When members create a new story, open or private story, will be an option. If they chose private, they will list two or five members to join in.  If you receive an invite, it will be shown on this section.
• Story Comments:  Any comment you post in a story, will be shown on this section.
• Stories Received:  Members will be able to send a finished story to a member’s screen name or e-mail, if screen name is chosen, that list will be shown in this section.

Create New Story

1. When you click on “Create New Story” in My Account, you will be taken to the area where you will be able to create a new story that other members will be able to contribute.

• Category:  Select the category you would like your story to be about, from Mystery to Romance, you decide.
• Name your story:  Write a Title for your story.
• Enter Page Amount:  Type in the number of page your story will contain.  Each page will contain five paragraphs.
• Select Story Type:  Pick whether you want your story to be open or private.  Open will allow any member to contribute and private will allow you to choose up to five members to contribute.
• Story Blurb:  Write a one paragraph Blurb, explaining how you would like your story to go.  Make your Blurb catchy, fun and exciting, since this is the first thing members will read and will help them determine if, they would like to contribute. Please keep in mind, that other members may have their own ideas, on how the story should go. Your story may not always end up the way it was explained on the Blurb.
• Create Story:  Once you are done filling out the information, click on Create Story and your new story will be created for you and others to enjoy.

Contributing to a story

1. On the left hand side, you will find a list of categories to choose from. 
2. Pick a Category from Mystery to Romance.  We will use Crime as an example.
3. Once you decide on “Crime”, you will find a list.  The list will show all the stories that have been created under that category.
4. Read through the list and pick a story that grabs your attention to contribute.
5. Click on “More”, this will take you to “Story Description”.
6. Click on Contribute or Read, you will get a popup, read it and click close.
7. Now you are in the Story, paragraphs will be displayed depending on how many members are contributing at the moment.
8. Please read each paragraph before you contribute, that way you can know what the story is about and where the story has been left off.
9. Once you get to the contribute box, start typing in your paragraph, once done click contribute and now you can see your paragraph displayed.

Important Note:  If you go into a story and would like to contribute but you get this message: You can't contribute at this moment. Someone else is currently contributing.This is because only one member at a time can contribute to a story.  If a member is contributing story will lock until contributing member is done with his/her paragraph.  In that case, please check back to contribute.

Read a Finished Story

Members and none members can view this section but you must have an account for certain options.

1. Click on the Read a Story and a drop down list will appear.
2. Select a category from Mystery to Romance.
3. When you select a category, a list will appear, this list will show all the stories that have been created and contributed by other members and are now finished to be read and enjoyed.

A completed story will contain.

• Completed Story
• Story information box.
• Send to Friend
• Add As Favorite
• Print Story
• Comments/Post Comment/ Reply
